Pastor Lowell Nelson teaches a topical study about God's Design for Marriage Part 2: The Biblical Design for Women in Marriage on 9/3/2006 for our Sunday service.
Building on the foundation, this session focuses specifically on the biblical role of the Christian woman. It contrasts God's design with two worldly extremes: women being degraded as possessions/perversions, or the feminist ideal of complete independence. True fulfillment for women is found not in marriage, family, or career, but contentment in being loved by God. Three key areas for a godly woman are outlined from 1 Peter 3: chaste conduct (purity in actions and motives), inward beauty (a gentle and quiet spirit over outward adornment), and submission to her husband as to the Lord, taking the pattern of godly women like Sarah. It clarifies that submission is first to God, and means willingly assigning oneself "a place under" to complete her husband in his God-given responsibility as the family's head, but not under abuse.
